Broken file links are a common but less-known cause of lost data. There is no obvious way to check these links, when performing regular maintenance, especially for novice users. With Link Reporter, you can verify the links of thousands of files in a single run. The software can provide you with a huge amount of information about each file, where it is, where it points to and so on. It generates detailed reports, with pie charts and all the statistics you need.

The software is free for personal and commercial use for 180 days, and it has some minor limitations, which can be removed if you upgrade to a paid version. Downloading and installing the software is a straightforward procedure, which doesn't take more than a minute to complete.

Link Reporter is capable of going through 100 GB of data, in a single run, without any problems. You can set up a scanning process by simply selecting one or more folder, in an Explorer-like panel, on the main user interface, set up filters if you need to, and click a button to start scanning. The program will look at each file and analyze any regular, folder, external, email and web link it can find, and it will tell you if they work or not.

A series of pie charts are filled up in real time, as the program scans your files. They illustrate various statistics, like the number of scanned files and how many have been skipped or filtered, what file types have been scanned, as well as how many working or broken links were found. Additionally, you can open a summary, in PDF format, which contains more in-depth statistics.

Warnings of broken links or other issues are made visible on the main interface, so you won't miss a thing. The options on two ribbon menus allow you to fix and inoculate your files, modify their links and perform other operations to make sure your data will be usable for a long time.

Link Reporter gives you the possibility of fixing file-related issues that elude even advanced users.

Pros

The software is capable of scanning thousands of files in a single run. It can analyze various link types within the files. Link Reporter provides you with a huge amount of information, and it can also fix the problems it finds.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to address.
